Carin Rexranald

What I am striving to transmit to you, the viewer, are the timeless and uplifting qualities of the subjects. Quiet and contemplative pictures, they may lift you above the cares of the world for a while.

At seventeen I enrolled in Forum art school, Malmoe.

I left for Copenhagen, where I trained at the Academy of Free and Merchantile Art for three years, and also got my diploma in book illustration. Later I graduated in science of religion at Lund university, with post graduate work specializing in “Anders Zorn and his private religion,1860-1920.”.

What I am striving to transmit to you, the viewer, are the timeless and uplifting qualities of the subjects. Quiet and contemplative pictures, they may lift you above the cares of the world for a while. When conveying harmony, art is healing; this is my belief.

The heritage rose portraits is a series following a mystical experience. Sensitive people seem to discern this and become drawn to them.

Artist’s grade colours are used, due to their higher rate of pure pigment and lightfastness. The support is linen canvas with oil colour, and archival paper with watercolour.

Age thirteen - my formal art education began with oil painting lessons by a local artist.

At fifteen, I attended art boarding school over summer, the principal was the preparatory Grundskolan för konstnärlig utbildning, Stockholm. The season was perfect for plein air training.

The model was Bodil Malmsten, who went on to become a well-known poet. At seventeen, I enrolled in Forum art school, Malmoe. The Vietnam war was ongoing and art became politics.

I left for Copenhagen, where I trained at the Academy of Free and Merchantile Art for three years,

and also got my diploma in book illustration. Later I graduated in science of religion at Lund university, with postgraduate work specializing in “Anders Zorn and his private religion,1860-1920.”.

There has been numerous exhibitions, most of them solo exhibitions. To name a few, Svaneholm castle and museum, Bäckaskog castle, Ystad galleries Max, Nordica and Pilgränden, Lund university Pictura art museum, Ateneum in Lund,Sofiero castle with group of British painters Exhibit A., also S:t David’s Hall, Cardiff, Wales, Kulturcentrum Geras in Austria, Fredriksdals Museum, and Bosjökloster castle repeatedly with British painters, Klostret museum in Ystad. Drawings for the literary Nordic Magazine, Horisont and teaching croquis (the model) at the Museum of Sketches in Lund may be mentioned. The debute was in ”Young artists” a Lund municipal gallery.
