Carin Rexranald

Carin Rexranald, born in 1949 in Lund, is a distinguished Swedish artist celebrated for her mastery of both oil painting and traditional watercolour. Her work is rooted in classical techniques and shaped by a deep, long-honed understanding of her craft—an expertise refined over decades of dedication and study.

Carin’s formal training began at Målarskolan Forum in Malmö, where she studied under the esteemed artist Gerhard Nordström. During these formative years, she cultivated the technical skill and artistic sensitivity that would define her later work. She subsequently continued her studies at the Akademiet for Fri og Merkantil Kunst in Copenhagen, broadening her artistic outlook and further developing her technique.

Renowned for her versatility, Carin is particularly admired for her oil paintings. Her refined command of traditional methods—combined with a remarkable ability to capture light, shadow, and atmosphere—gives her paintings a distinctive depth and vitality. Her watercolours, characterised by precision and subtle tonal variation, showcase her disciplined hand and keen eye for detail.

Over the course of her career, Carin has exhibited in numerous galleries and art venues. She is now based in Sövestad, just outside Ystad in southern Sweden, where she continues to create and exhibit her work in her studio, Fairyhill.
